Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m.

General Manager Tom Karlo and his wife, Julie, invite you to join them on a 12-day journey through England, Scotland, and Wales. Sleepy villages where sheep wander the grassy hillsides, lakes set amidst mountains that inspired centuries of literature, and cities thriving with arts and culture — these are the landscapes of Britain.

Registered passengers and interested travelers are invited to join us at KPBS on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a free travel presentation. To RSVP or for more information, contact Jennifer Majors via email or call (619) 594-6374.

KPBS_LunchHour_x280KPBS LunchHour with Michael Kelly and Sandhya Dirks

Friday, October 18 at 12:00 p.m.

Join us at our October brown-bag lunch event to hear from Mike Kelly, President of The Committee of One Hundred, and KPBS Metro Reporter Sandhya Dirks, who will lead the discussion about San Diego’s 1915 Panama-California Exposition.

As San Diego prepares for the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, The Committee of One Hundred is leading a project to create a virtual library of material from San Diego’s 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition. Early next year the Digital Archive website will go live, making some fascinating material available to the public and encouraging interest in the Exposition as we approach its 2015 Centennial. Click here to RSVP.

FridaKahlo_logoAn exhibition featuring The Life and Art of Frida Kahlo

Wednesday, November 6

The rich and colorful life of Frida Kahlo is revealed in “The Complete Frida Kahlo: Her Paintings. Her Life. Her Story. The Exhibition,” making its U.S. premiere in San Diego at historic NTC at Liberty Station. This is the only exhibition worldwide where all of her paintings can be seen in one place. Some paintings, especially from Kahlo’s early years, have never before been seen.

Join the Producers Club for a reception at the exhibit followed by a talk with co-curator Dr. Mariella Remund. The exhibition features 123 replicas of Frida Kahlo’s known paintings in original size and original materials, and hand-painted in the same style as Kahlo painted them. These replicas, owned by Global Entertainment Properties 1, LLC, are painted by master artists and licensed by ©Banco de Mexico Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo Museums Trust/VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2008.
