KPBS Senior News Producer Kris Vera-Phillips brings more than nine years of experience producing news shows and content in San Francisco, Sacramento and Topeka, Kansas. She knows how to juggle breaking news coverage and long-format segments, including live studio interviews with former State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown and Congressman Eric Swalwell. Her work has been recognized by the Associated Press Television-Radio Association.
Kris recently began work as a
Fellow in the Next Generation Leadership program. This program, funded by the Corporation for
Public Broadcasting, is designed to support new and diverse editorial leaders
for public media. The training began on January 24 at WGBH Boston with an
“Immersion Week” that brought the Fellows together with leadership and public
media experts; it will continue throughout 2016.
